Rotting Food Project: Day 1 (6-13-02)
Day 1 of the Rotten Food Project went off without a hitch. First, it was raining, so the molding/rotting process should go a tad quicker, and it was also much less expensive than we figured it would be.
The only problem is that one of the items was too expensive, so we had to go with our second choice. Obviously, we were looking for inexpensive items that would just look plain cool to see rotten.
Our first choice was red cabbage.

Cost: $.83
Expected Life: Medium
Our next product was an eggplant.

Cost: $1.44
Expected Life: Medium
Our third (and refreshingly inexpensive) item was a hardroll.

Cost: $.25
Expected Life: Short (due to rain)
Our fourth victim (most interesting to us) was some pickleloaf.

Cost: $.99
Expected Life: Medium
Our fifth pick was a block of cheddar cheese.

Cost: $.92
Expected Life: Long
Our last choice was a 3-pack of twinkies.

"What would I want with three twinkies?"
Cost: $.95
Expected Life: Long
I guess supermarket people, especially managers, aren't too fond of people walking around with digital camcorders in their stores. As soon as I snapped a shot of the red cabbage, some guy approached us and asked if we were "taking prices." A quick explanation by Mouse shut him up good, as he stood bewildered for a few seconds before going on his merry way.
