T! Projects: State Fair 2003

Ahh...the Wisconsin State Fair. A place to eat cream puffs, watch cows sit there and...
GO CRAZY AND PUT T! POSTERS EVERYWHERE!!!
Ok, maybe that's not what it means for most people, but it certainly did for Mouse and Dstln on Monday, August 4th, 2003. They went, they saw, they conquered. Actually, they did go through the entire fairgrounds and experienced much of what the fair had to offer, but the poster project was a main part and was a great success with four out of five posters getting significant up-time and receiving major viewage by the folks passing by. Let's get to the specifics.
The first of the new T!35 posters to be put up was taped on the fence around a prominent water fountain. Yes, we did remember to pick up tape this time, and it was only $.39 without tax with a coupon. Anyway, that poster was instantly viewed by a small girl and stayed up for the remainder of the time Mouse and Dstln were there. That poster could have easily remained in the same location for a few days, and that's good advertising.
The next poster was taped to a wall in Exhibit Hall A. After filling out some surveys, the two Pro-Ts looked around for a good location. They settled on an entrance to the main exhibit hall and quickly yet thoroughly attached the poster to the wall structure. They later returned and saw that the poster was indeed still up and attracting peoples' eyes. While that poster probably would not have lasted the night, it was still quite useful.
The third poster was put up in the cream puff building. The two decided that they need some brain food, so they took a rest and bought two of the massive sugar-filled, sugar-coated, sugar-topped sugar-balls that are surrounded by two pieces of sugar bread. Mouse then had the genius idea in line to fasten a poster onto an eating table. Then anyone eating at the table in question would definitely take a good, hard look at the poster. The poster was then fastened using massive quantities of tape, but it was gone when they returned later. No one knows how long it lasted, but we can only hope...
Then the two plotted on the next hit. Mouse suggested the WE Energies Park, so they took a look. Overall, the park was rather dull, with the exception of the two receiving plastic hard-hats. But the hat-dispenser would not allow Dstln to receive the hat without proof of his worth, so he made him first answer the following question- "What do you do if there's gas in the house?" "Hmm...what kind of gas?" "Natural gas, not the kind that happens if you eat too many beans." "Umm.. yeah. Get out of the house." "That's correct." Even though Dstln wasn't talking about flatulence like the hat-dispenser thought, he did still receive the treasured prize and was able to pass. Once Dstln and Mouse exited the park, Dstln looked around for a place to put the poster around the entrance. They agreed, knowing that at least a few people would see it at the entrance. The poster was put on the gate directly left of the entrance, for all to see.
As the day was winding down, Dstln was getting desperate to find a good location for the final poster. He specifically wanted it near the popular milk stand. Mouse suggested putting it directly on the large plastic cow that many were congregated around, but Dstln thought it would fall of or be taken down too quickly, so he tried attaching the poster to a close fence instead. But, the fence proved to be most tape-resistant and the poster would not stay. Dstln backed away for a moment, and the poster flew away never again to be seen by humans. So the final poster of the day was unfortunately Missing In Action. But the day's Pro-T action didn't quite end there.
On the way home, the two stopped at an import store to look around. At the checkout, two customers were talking about model cars. One insisted that the only kind of good van was the A-Team van. "Cmon man, you can't have a great van without Mr. T." He argued the merits of the van well, but the other foolishly would rather have neon lights than the most powerful vehicle in the world. Dstln expressed his approval of the person's choice in the A-Team van, then Dstln and Mouse left for the day.
CONCLUSION: The day went quite well, with the posters exceeding expectations and a surprise conversation about Mr. T outside of the fair.
